Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Two sisters confront love, marriage, and a failing business in this “charming and deceptively breezy second novel” (Publishers Weekly) that “deftly explores big issues like loyalty, trust, sorrow, and disappointment in sure, bright, effervescent prose” (New York Times Book Review).

Mimi finds herself at odds in this book - with herself, her ex, her boyfriend, her sister, her mother, and her future. Yet while figuring out what went wrong with some of her relationships, she manages to stumble upon opportunity and take it. At times frustrating, as the reader sees solutions to her problems before Mimi does, Sara Lewis keeps the story moving at a good pace, so the reader does not lose interest.

The end is quite satisfying yet manages to also be open to new possibilities, which is not an easy task for the author to manage. This was my first Sara Lewis novel and I was pleased to discover her and her vast collection of books. Though an easy, fun read, this book had me asking questions and thinking about it, long after I finished.

I loved this book. But, I've loved ALL Sara Lewis' books. She writes with heart and kindness and wit. Her characters are true and funny and real. Sure, they are experiencing a lot of the same kinds of problems you and I are, but reading about their lives sheds light on my own. Oh, and also I'm entertained!

It is a wonderful thing to be able to read a book about people who want to "get it right". People who aren't out to maim and mutilate each other. People who might have had a few bumps in the road of life but manage to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and fall in love again, both with a new mate, as well as with the experience of being alive.

Entertainment . . . that's why I read!!

I read to take a break, unwind, and relax. The title made me pick this book up. Having never read anything by Sara Lewis I had no expectations. Yes, it was an easy read. Easy because it was entertaining, fun and I fell very quickly into the lives of the characters. I, like Mimi, love music. Having this in common immediately bonded me to the story teller. I love how Sara Lewis told this story. It made me feel as if I were reading a letter and catching up with a dear friend I hadn't spoken with for a while. I am a loyal, faithful reader of authors who touch my heart with their talent . . . and gift. Thanks to Amazon I have the titles of Sara's other books. I look forward to reading them all. I will be adding Ms. Lewis to my list of authors I wait anxiously for news of a new release. Enjoy . . . I sure did!!

This book was a day in the life of an average nobody with average problems, average kids, average ex-husband, and all of that trivial stuff that doesn't warrant being written about. My life is more interesting, and that's not saying much.

Light, humorous read

I agree with the other reviewers on this page who say that the book's easy writing style does not tax the reader's intelligence. Also, it was no mystery who the thief was. You could see that coming fifty pages away. Still, the book is a real joy to read. In book reviews, I've often come across the phrase "full of hidden little truths" and had little idea what that actually means. Well, this book is an example. The story is so familiar and touching, it was like my best friend had written it. I highly recommend this book.
